Film Errors

After talking about this in one of my classes, I wanted to do a bit of research on my own. That’s how I came across this little video. After watching it, I saw a lot of mistakes that I did not even catch when I first saw these movies. I’m pretty sure a lot of people wouldn’t even catch these mistakes. It’s not usually like people to walk into a movie and expect to pick out all of the little errors in it. Usually people would pick on the things that are noticeable. Like the story, characters, setting, and even actors. So how would people even find these little faults. I believe it all depends upon a couple of factors.

1. Whether the film is good. If the film is really good (like Back to the Future) chances are, you probably will miss a lot of continuity errors. Because you’re so focused on the story and characters that you won’t even pay attention to what’s going on around them.

2. If they hide the continuity errors well. Lets face it. We will make mistakes at least once in our lives. And that’s natural. The same can go for film. It’s just how they go about hiding those mistakes that can make or break a film’s reputation. If a mistake is barely even noticeable to the director then it will probably be barely noticeable to the audience.

3. People’s focus in the film. Even if the film is good, there are some people who have seen it so many times that they know what’s going to happen. So some of them will decide to analyze the film, thereby finding some faults in the it.

What about you. Did catch any of these mistakes when you first saw these movies? Would you even think about it when you first go to see a movie?
